Candidate Marilyn Lee encourages letters of comment!
Lee submits letter to U.S. Army Environmental Command

July 31, 2014, Mililani, Hawaii—Candidate Marilyn Lee, Democrat, has written a letter to the U.S. Army Environmental Command stating her concerns regarding the possible loss of up to 16,000 active duty soldiers and Army civilians at Schofield Barracks. Fort Shafter could lose up to 3,800 Army personnel and civilians.

According to the Budget Control Act of 2011 the Army must reduce their force by an additional 70,000 Soldiers and associated Army civilians to reach an end-strength of 420,000.

Any reduction in the Army at Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter could have a profound effect on the Central Oahu communities.

Lee is urging community members, organizations, and businesses to submit written comments to the U.S. Army Environmental Command, ATTN: SPEA Public Comments, 2450 Connell Road (Building 2264),  Joint Base San Antonia-Fort Sam Houston, TX, 78234-7664; or by email to usarmy.jbsa.aec.nepa@mail.mil

Comments on the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of these reductions will be accepted until August 25, 2014.

Candidate Marilyn Lee is running for the State House of Representatives for District 36.  This includes Mililani, Mililani Mauka, and Waipio Acres.
